about

Originally titled " Show Me The Way," and recorded by Skyy, featuring the iconically stylized lead vocal performance by none other than Denise Crawford (Currently of The Ladies of Skyy), this song happens to be one of my favorite Skyy tracks penned. In fact, only having a bass line, drum pocket, melody sketch and a catchy hook to work with in putting down the original backing track, most of the lyrics came gushing out of me just before walking into the studio. As if by divine intervention. But as they say, "The rest is history." Originally released in1983,"Show Me The Way" has become a favorite to many the world over,. And a 1983 remix on the Salsoul label by Madonna producer Shep Petibone only served to boost the song's popularity even more.

However, a decade later, in the midst of the 90s' House/Dance frenzy, Plaza Records released an updated version of the song on vinyl titled "Show Me Da Way" (PL-00018-SG) with a brand new non-male second verse ( originally sung by Solomon Roberts Jr.) and featuring an alternate female vocalist for the entirety of the track.

Fast forward to present:. this new iteration,"Show Me Da Way" - London Philly Radio Remix, is a crisp, fresh harmonically re-contextualized next- level take on the 1993 remake, all the while preserving its delicious melodic vocal signature. Remixed by UK's Nigel Lowis, lush strings combined with syncopated brassy horn jabs and a Earl Young- Philly-styled groove seem to transport one to another time and place when raw funk and soul was both posh and "pop" And the dance floor was a the place to meet and greet, fall in love, shake that thang and simply have a good time.

Enjoy,

Randy Muller
